Understanding Rice Bran
Rice bran is a byproduct of the conversion from brown rice to white rice. It includes, the rice bran epidermis, rice germ and a small amount of crushed endosperm and primarily composed of phytic acid, ferulic acid, gamma oryzanol and some trace elements. It is the most important nutrient component of the whole rice, but in an age where there is ample food and clothing modern society are pursuing an exquisite diet thus rice bran is often shaved during rice milling.
Phytic Acid
Has anti-free radicals which delays aging and improves skin health. After phytic acid is completely dephosphorylated by metabolism in the body, it produces inositol, a lipophilic water-soluble substance commonly known as vitamin B8.
Ferulic Acid
It is a substance unique to rice bran that has the function of preventing UV absorption and acidification furthermore, it is resistant to oxidation and clears free radicals. It can connect intracellular polysaccharides and collagen to increase the tightness between cells and maintain skin elasticity.
Gamma Oryzanol
Under high temperature, UV, slight acidic and alkaline environments, it is still very stable which points out the advantages of applying gamma oryzanol in beauty and maintenance to prolong its active life.

Taitung Chishang Oganic Rice Bran
Due to Taitung Chishang's pure spring water quality, organic-rich soil and high temperature difference between night and day, the time for rice maturation has extended therefore, producing excellent rice quality. In addition, due to the development of the rice industry, about 95% of Chishang's rice are handed over to the local rice mill in Chishang County.
What do we lose from turning brown rice to white rice?
In brown rice its skin, seed coat, aleurone layer, germ and endosperm, retains the most nutrients. Rice bran is the part that is discarded when brown rice is crushed to form white rice. It only accounts for 6-8% of the total weight of rice, but its nutrients account for 64%, and its essential fatty acid content is as high as 47%. All these lost nutrients such as proteins, fats, calcium, cellulose, iron and vitamins, are all in the rice bran that people have discarded.
Ultrasonic extraction
Traditional extraction techniques use high-temperature distillation or boiled water, which easily loses the plant's complete active ingredients and reduce plant-active cells. Moreover, different chemical solvents are added to meet the needs of the extraction resulting in solvent chemical residues problems. Therefore, we decided to adopt a new type of ultrasonic extraction technology.
Low Temperature Extraction
Through low-temperature extraction and pressure regulation, the destruction of active ingredients caused by traditional high-temperature extraction is avoided. The extracted rice bran essence is more active, stable and not to mention, perfectly preserved.
Small Amount Extraction
Reise insists on purchasing fresh rice bran before production of each batch of products, and immediately sends and extracts the required rice bran ingredients to ensure that it is produced in the freshest state.
Vacuum Filtration
After the rice bran extract is produced, it is immediately passed through an aseptic multi-layered membrane vacuum chamber filter, to remove impurities and retain the purest rice bran nutrition.
Easy to Absorb
The high penetrating power of the ultrasonic wave effectively mixes the extract, and the extracted substance has a small molecule to which the permeability, solubility and oxygen content are increased, so that it can be easily absorbed by the skin.

Bio-Based Plastic
The new type of plastic used in rice bran bottles is rice bran cellulose, vegetable starch and protein. The natural macromolecule raw material that has been modified is called “bio-based plastic” and has the same durability and usability as traditional petrochemical plastics. After the bottle is burned, it will not produce toxic substances such as dioxin that contaminate the soil, and it can be recycled and reused.

Global Warming to Agricultural Crisis
Global warming has caused changes in temperature and rainfall patterns in Taiwan. In the next 30 - 60 years, the average total evaporation of rice in each period will increased by 2.1% to 6.8%, which will increase sea level, seriously affecting important agriculture in the Southwestern production base plains.
400 Thousand Tons of Environmentally Friendly Weight
Taiwan produces 1.7 million metric tons of rice in a year, and processes 1.3 million metric tons of brown rice. The discarded byproduct of the 400,000 tons of rice that is processed from brown rice to white rice is "rice bran". Abandonment does not mean that it is unimportant. There is a reason for everything's existence and although rice bran may not be delicious, its nutrition and usability is without doubt. The existence of rice bran allows us to take care of our skin more naturally, and dedicates us to treat the earth more.

Chishang Township vigorously promotes “Sustainable Agricultural Law” and “Organic Agricultural Law” aiming to maintain and cultivate soil fertility while completely eliminating pesticides and chemical fertilization.
